Brazilian Blowout-hair-service

Keratin Treatment at James Geidner Hair Studio

If you have lived in Vero Beach for any stretch of time, you know what the ocean air does to your hair. Salt humidity is relentless. It does not matter how much product you use or how long you spend with a round brush in the morning; by the time you walk from your car, frizz is winning.

A professional keratin smoothing treatment changes that. We offer keratin services at our salon on Beachland Boulevard for clients who live with coastal humidity year-round and need results that hold up to it.

Not sure whether you want keratin or a Brazilian Blowout? Keratin has a longer wear time but a 48 to 72 hour no-wash window. The Brazilian Blowout has no downtime. We help you choose at consultation.

More About Keratin Treatment

What a Keratin Treatment Does

A keratin smoothing treatment works by infusing a protein-based formula into the hair shaft and sealing it in with high heat. The treatment is not permanent. It fades gradually over three to five months as you wash your hair, which means you can adjust or change up your look when it is time to refresh.

It works on almost every hair type. Fine hair, thick hair, curly hair, wavy hair, color-treated hair, natural hair. The outcome varies based on your texture and the specific formula we use, but the core benefit is the same: smoother, calmer, more manageable hair every single day.

What Sets a Professional Service Apart

Keratin kits sold at retail stores exist. They do not produce the same results. The formulas are weaker, the application process is unguided, and the flat iron pass, which is the step that actually seals the treatment, requires skill and experience to execute correctly. A poorly done keratin treatment can leave your hair sticky, uneven, or damaged.

Our team applies keratin treatments with the same precision we bring to every technical service. That means section-by-section application, proper processing time, and an iron pass that seals the formula evenly from root to tip.

The James Geidner Hair Studio Team

James Geidner has been working behind the chair for over 40 years and was named Colorist of the Year in 2021. His technical background means every service, including keratin, is approached with precision and care. He understands how different formulas interact with different hair types and he does not apply a one-size-fits-all approach.

Jean Geidner is our Senior Stylist with over 30 years of experience. She handles a wide range of clients and textures and brings the kind of steady, experienced hand that produces consistent results.

Victoria Swegan specializes in blonding and smoothing treatments. She works regularly with clients who want to combine keratin services with color work and understands how to sequence those appointments for the best outcome.

Our Process, Step by Step

  • Consultation: We start by assessing your hair and discussing your goals. We want to know how you style your hair, how often you wash it, and what results you are hoping for. This shapes which formula and approach we use.
  • Clarifying Wash: We shampoo with a clarifying formula to remove buildup and open the hair cuticle so the keratin can penetrate fully.
  • Formula Application: Working in sections, we apply the keratin treatment from root to tip, making sure coverage is thorough and even.
  • Processing: The formula processes for 20 to 30 minutes. During this time the proteins begin bonding with the hair shaft.
  • Blow-Dry and Iron Pass: We blow-dry the hair smooth, then flat iron in small sections at high heat. This seals the treatment in and is where the results are locked.
  • Aftercare Instructions: Before you leave, we go over exactly what to do and what to avoid so your results last as long as possible.

Protecting Your Results

The way you care for your hair after a keratin treatment determines how long it lasts. Most clients see results hold for three to five months with proper aftercare. Here is what that looks like:

  • No washing for 48 to 72 hours after your appointment
  • Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner only for the life of the treatment
  • Rinse and condition immediately after ocean swims or pool time
  • Loose styles or clips only in the first few days, no elastics or ponytails that leave creases
  • Return for a refresher treatment as results begin to fade to keep your hair consistently smooth

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a keratin treatment last?

Three to five months for most clients with proper aftercare, including sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

How long does the appointment take?

Two to three hours. Longer or denser hair takes more time, and we block enough time to do the service correctly so results are even.

Keratin or Brazilian Blowout: which should I get?

Choose keratin if you want the longest wear and can skip washing for 48 to 72 hours. Choose the Brazilian Blowout if you need zero downtime and a more customizable level of smoothing.

Can I get a keratin treatment if my hair is color-treated?

Yes. If you are planning color and keratin in the same period, we recommend coloring first and waiting at least two weeks before the keratin appointment.

Will it make my hair feel stiff or coated?

No, not when it is applied and sealed properly. Hair should feel like your own, just smoother and softer. Stiff or waxy hair after keratin usually means the formula was not fully sealed or a cheap formula was used.

How soon will I notice a difference?

Immediately. The iron pass is the last step, so you see your results before you leave. Most clients say the first wash after the 72-hour wait is when it really sinks in.
